She walked down the road
Heart heavy with human toil
The Autumn Breeze waited.
In a flurry of ecstasy
The leaves cascaded off the trees
Hovering in golden rapture before continuing their dance to the ground below
To suddenly be swept up once more to join others in a twister of amber and red.
She stopped, paralyzed by beauty
Inhaling the morning air
It was time.
The rustle of the leaves, a serenade.
A gust drew them to her.
A symphony of colour surrounded her.
And she let go
She surrendered all she was or had ever been to the autumn breeze
Finally, she was free.
