I Have No More Words

Written January 2015

I have no more words.
Though this war has not yet been won.
It is over and ceasefire
Resonates in silence over the battlefield.

I raise my hands defeated.
I have no more words.
No negotiations round the table.
No treaty here shall be met.

The wounds have yet to be counted.
The survivor deafened and limping.
I have no more words.
No protestations shall be heard.

I climb my white horse, head high,
Knowing I did all that I could.
I shall not turn my head to utter parting remarks.
I have no more words.
